Travel Blogs from Nettuno
And then there were five
Julie and I took showers in the morning and then headed down to breakfast to meet up with Matt. We booked two more nights at the hostel and then headed to the Vatican together. We went to Saint Peter's basilica which was SO beautiful inside. So ornate and so amazing, it really shows how loaded the Catholic church is! We left there and walked through the Vatican city to the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel. While we were inside the museum, we met up with Mike, another traveler who ...

Also a shame how over the years the Colosseum has been reduced to a skeleton from later generations taking the ...
A tiny country surrounded by a big one
First full day in Rome and we caught the campsite shuttle bus direct from the campsite reception to Cipro metro station (about 30mins @ 8am) which is a short 10 min walk from Vatican City.
For those who don't know, Vatican City is a tiny sovereign state completely enclosed within Rome city centre. It is about 44 hectares in area and has full time population of 800. My fact for the day (this may be wrong of course) is that Italy is the ...
