A once thriving commercial port of 20,000, Pompeii (founded 600 BC) grew from Greek and Etruscan roots to become an important Roman city. Then on August 24, 79 AD, everything changed. Mount Vesuvius erupted and began to bury the city under 30 feet of hot volcanic ash. The citizens ...

The next day we took the local bus to explore the different cities on the coast. The bus was crowded and I had to stand the whole way. I didn’t mind because it offered some great views. However, the roads were very ...

... hill (or the other way around from where we got dropped off by the bus). The streets are absolutely charming; they wind their way through town, lined with tons of adorable shops doing brisk business, and even have some greenery weaving its way overtop in certain sections. We slowly wandered the streets, popped in to visit the church, and then made our way down to a cafe by the beach for a drink while admiring the happening harbour scene. ...
