... We then went for a walk down the Corso di Trieste, which is the Caserta main shopping strip. Many Italian shops are very beautiful just to look at – especially the fashion stores. Craig bought a couple of little kitchen implements. I am trying not to fill my bag again after just sending home an expensive parcel. I hope it gets there! It is a little cooler but Napoli was warm. ... completely burying Pompeii and Herculaneum in ash. This eruption lasted 19 hours. Unlike other locations around Mt Vesuvius, it was not lava that killed the people but poisonous sulpha gases. Mt V is still an active volcano and last erupted in 1944.

After era history filled day we headed back to the ship exhausted. Another magic dinner and continued stream of on board entertainment. Tomorrow is a sea day so a sleep in is possible.
