There was a heated pool to the side and people were 'quite literally' being hosed down before they were allowed to get in (various pool attendants took turns at holding the hose!!)...
When I returned the boat, we had been joined by an organised tour and a lunch of chicken curry (that famous Turkish cuisine!!) was served, whilst we sailed around we passed a couple of ...

Ruined by Tourism

... of the world is explored, and that some areas can retain a look and feel unique in the world.

For me some of the best places are areas that retain a pleasant and unique environment, whilst subtly presenting me with the things that allow me to be more comfortable. Simply presenting me with an English menu describing the local cuisine would be a good example - not one filled with pictures of overly sweet iced-cream desserts.

pamukkale is expensive.

Awoke near Pamukkale and paid a scandalous amount to get in. 10 pounds each to see some tepid pools of water. Even the initially striking karstic rock was pretty much covered in faint brown footprints. The extorsion didn't end there as it turned out that Cleopatra's Baths, the hot spring at the top was an additional cost. We thought we could get away with just paying for one of us to get in and then swapping the ...

... t believe it as we passed Ephesus. TIME 2. We were going to a ceramic factory. Sure, it was cool seeing how they made beautiful ceramic bowls, Turkish style...but I wanted to see the ceramic bowls made Hellenistic style over 2000 years ago! Jessica and Phoenix made some purchases, so it took about 45 minutes. I didn't resent them, I resented Fez...this was not in the brochure.

Only it didn't stop there...then we went to a leather factory, where tour buses ...

SAILING TO BODRUM (ALIKARNASOS)

... people Bodrum is something like MYKONOS.
Unfortunately we have not much time to visit the Castle with the Museum.....but probably another time we will.

We left with the best impressions and Zinet our tour leader played an important role to this. I however have to admit that I expected Bodrum to be much cheaper than Kos, but I was wrong. Even the food is expensive here, and the souvenirs and everything have the same price as in Greece.
A Hike Above Kas on May 13

... though. Curiously enough, where I happened to pause to rest and enjoy the view, there was scratched into a hard white lichen (I think) the initials and date of a previous visitor to that one particular rock!

Finally in sight of a dirt road I found my way to it, expecting it to lead me back down to the coast. But to my amazement, after the road went over the lip of the crest, it just fanned out in a short scree. It didn't go anywhere. Some debris, I guess, from a near-by ...

In Dalyan

... Our group is good - ten of us until Aleppo and then we meet some new people (4 Canadians, 2 Americans, 1 Swiss, 3 Brits). 7 of us our making our way through the entire 36 day tour. Our tour leader is Furkan and he is quite good. I'm not sure when our next update will be due to the remoteness of the areas we will be in but I will try to update. We 're having a blast and don't worry too much about us (Mom & Dad!). -Jonathan

... accommodations. I suppose you can find anything you want there. I mean, a real party place, if that's your inclination. My own wishes, however, are for the quiet and restrained. Thus I have stayed each time at the Saban Pansion (www.sabanpansion.com). My sleeping was in a quiet bungalow. The cost was 25TL (US$16), and that included two meals. Not only that, but the food is of the best I have had in Turkey. It's pretty unbeatable, anyway you come to view ...

Cruising the Aegean Coast

... treated us so well that we felt like family members. Either that or royalty, as we felt incredibly lucky to be cruising Turkey in a private yacht! We anchored in a number of outstanding places. The first was the very beautiful Uckubuku, or something like that, which was a well protected harbor with a long beach occupied by a camping settlement with beautiful azure and warm waters. The second night we spent in the sort of resort town of ...
