Hotel Villa Rosa - 'excellent'
We stayed for a week at Villa Rosa from 21st to 28th July 2007 and loved every minute. We cannot give a bad report about the hotel at all. Modern, very clean, (linen and towels changed every day) and very helpful staff. We paid for a junior suite with a balcony overlooking the lake and were chuffed to bits! Even the small pool never got over-crowded and we travelled peak holiday time. Breakfast was great and you can eat at the poolside at lunch time if you like although it's so close to the town, you don't really need to. Definitely recommended (for couples or families) and definitely going back!
Fantastic hotel - don't hesitate to book!
We stayed at the Villarosa hotel in Desenzano last weekend (Fri to Tuesday) July 07.
We booked the hotel, flight and car hire all separately online and saved a fortune. We we really impressed with the standard of the hotel and the location. It's right opposite the lake, just 5mins from the centre where you'll find lots of beautiful Italian buildings with ornate balconies, restaurants serving wonderful food in a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The prices were really good too, not at all expensive as you'd imagine at Lake Garda. A meal with a bottle of wine (for 2) cost us around 40 Euros, well worth it.
You can drive to Venice along the A4 motorway, which will take you about 2 hours depending on traffic. Be prepared for the toll though (you can pay by cash or credit card if you want to, but make sure you get in the correct lane!).
Overall, a fantastic long weekend and we can't wait to go back again!
Fantastisches Hotel - buchen Sie gleich!
Travelling with 2 other couples, we took a chance on this recently renovated hotel (there had yet to be any reviews written as the hotel reopened, I believe, just last April). It was very nice. the rooms were modern--beds comfortable. The pool and area around it were very pleasant. It's a "green" hotel and your hotel key card gets inserted into a slot inside your room in order to keep the lights and tv on. Rooms all have balconies, mini fridges, nice bathrooms and flat screen tvs. The breakfast was quite good--served from 7:00 to 10:00--cheeses, hams, yogurt, cereals, eggs to cook, lots of sweets, juices, and a great coffee machine! There is a very nice terrace/porch facing the lake with tables and chairs. The staff was very pleasant--the outdoor parking is free--or you can park in the underground garage for 5 Euros a day. The lake is right across the narrow street; there are lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Stylish modern hotel
Stayed at the newly modernised Villa Rosa for one week, good location in fashionable Desenzano, loads of great places to eat espiecially Al Fattore .Good for couples, very clean , nice pool, air-con rooms, car parking , one down side we had to pay for the pool towel so........ BYO!! Everything you would expect form a 4* hotel
A pleasant and quiet place in March
Stayed in the Villa Rosa with my sister for two nights (19-20 March 2005). The hotel is, like everything around Lake Garda, is trapped in the early 80's. Accordingly, decor is a little lacking (neon-blue theme has never been in) but the high ceilings and balcony were nice.
Hotel is clean, safe, quiet, right across the Lungalo street from the lake, and just a five minute walk from the center of town. The breakfast buffet is heavy on the sugary biscuit side and needs imporvement, but there is free internet in the lobby as a consolation prize.
For what we got, the hotel seemed a bit pricey to me, but its staff was always friendly and helpful (even printing off train sceduales). No serious complaints.

This morning we visited casa di capuleti or Juliet's house as we know it. This is where the movie letters to Juliet was filmed one of my favourite movies!! It also brought back many memories of when I played the leading role in the school play. We also visited her tomb and were closely followed by the security lady presumably to check we didn't write on the walls as so many people had done ...
This is the last leg of our Italian adventure. Left Venice this morning by water taxi from our hotel to the train station. After a short train journey arrived in Verona. Our hotel is a beautifully converted palazzo very grand!!! Of course we had to explore the shops first although shock and horror there is no Prada!! Very strange when there has been several in every other city we have stayed. So we crossed the oldest roman bridge in Verona Ponte pietra ...
... a tiny courtyard. I'm sorry to say the house actually has no connection with the Shakespeare tale and the balcony was added in 1936 for tourists. The entry walls are littered with love notes on bits of scrap paper and stuck to the wall, some times with gum. In 2012 there were big finds issued for littering, but it hasn't stopped people. There is a bronze statue of Juliet in the courtyard and visitors rub ...
With a short mileage to
cover today, we would make the most of it and visit Verona. Our fist
stop was a Harley Davidson dealer on the outskirts of the town. It
was a pretty big dealership with plenty of Harley branded bits –
not just bikes but barbecues, chairs and all sorts of expensive stuff
for the enthusiast. It began to rain a bit as we rode away into the
city, which was busy but not manic. We managed to find a motorcycle
Without such a rush
today and the weather being a bit wet, we walked back to the ferry
jetty to catch a boat to Desanzano to the west and on the southern
shore. This was another larger town with a marina again. The
weather just was not inviting today and put a dampener on our walk
around the town. We enjoyed a coffee in a pedestrianised street but
decided not to wait for a later ferry but to return to Sirmione on
