... We join the throng filing around the tomb. It is a simple stone sarcophagus set in on open column with a simple iron grate above and below it set on a modest pile of concreted rocks. There is a simple altar in front of and below the sarcophagus. It looks like this simple, humble man's life has been respected and honoured in his death. Well, such are the plans of mice and men.....several bottles of Umbrian red later (well....we had to say goodbye!), ALL the left overs of which there was enough for the entire village...and several hours of going through the photos and blog and laughing ourselves hoarse...we ended up with about three hours sleep to begin our 35 plus hours of return travel.

... Francis. Parking up the top of the hill is quite difficult and you have a much longer walk than where the taxis are allowed to pick up and drop off.

There was St Francis, still sitting on his donkey!....same spot he was almost ten years prior when Phil and I last visited! If felt good to be back.

Much better weather this time. Cool but not raining and good for walking the grades you have to cover from St ...
