... our own private boat and cruised around to San Fruttuoso. On the way we saw a helicopter flying with a tray of something under it. It dropped the tray somewhere on the headland and then flew off again. It did the same thing again and we wondered if someone had been hurt but looking at my photo I think it was carrying building supplies. We cruised out of the harbour and followed the beautiful but steep cliffs around to the inlet of San Fruttosa and its Abbazia di ...

... in Genoa and we would enjoy ourselves much more by paying to go to one of several private beaches with restaurants and services. We managed to navigate the Genoa tram system to Bagni Nuovo Lido. After shelling out over 60 US for entry, two lounge chairs and a parasol, we were lead through a shabby complex of pools, private cabanas and restaurants. The "beach" was a narrow strip of smooth black stones that were so hot you could easily fry an ...

... for lunch was a challenge and we settled for Foccacia (a local lunch favourite) and pizza. The Foccacia has a variety of toppings to choose from. I had onion on one and fresh tomatoes on the other...delicious. Then back to the hotel for our afternoon rest. We have fallen into a lovely rhythm. We have breakfast around 9, go out and walk from 10 - 3 (including lunch), rest and chores until 7:30 then dinner at 8. We had ...

We said good bye to Maria and the B&B at 9 a.m. She gave us a home made bottle of limoncello as a parting gift made from the lemons in her backyard, nice. We arrived at the train station easily (all down hill) and caught an earlier train. We had an hour wait at La Spezia for the train to Milan but got 2 seats by the door and our luggage. Piece of cake. Walked out of the station and took a cab to our hotel which is well situated next to the old town. ...
