... good news because it means we will not have to share a tour with an entire bus load of other people. As we took a quick self guided tour around the main chateau of the property we were continuously struck by the beauty of the property and just how picturesque the entire estate was. When it came time for our tour we waited at the appointed spot and a couple minutes later a very nice young woman came walking up and introduced herself as our ...

... area. Loads of vines, castles and hilltop villages. Patrick very kindly made a reservation for dinner for us at a local osteria and we had magical birthday dinner. Liam was very upset that we weren't going back again tonight!! We didn't actually do anything here so nothing to report - Just a pin in the map.

Boys spent the afternoon tree surfing while Gran and I caught up on some washing, it always feels great when you have a case full of clean clothes when you are traveling.
Spritz in the local piazza with enough nibbles - that always accompany pre-dinner drinks- to feed a small family!! casual walk through town before selecting the nights dinner venue. So not looking forward to cooking when I get home!!

... selection of foods either battered or crumbed - sweet and sour. There were steaks, mushrooms, brains, apple, sweet semolina, sausages, apricot pastries, crumbed amaretti, carrots. Unusual, but tasty. Didn't try the brains...... Dessert of strawberries in sugar and lemon, with gelato, and cake of nocciole (hazelnuts).
Of course this didn't finish till well past two o'clock. The boys were interested in speaking English, two older ones are already at university and Federico ...
