I pulled on thick protective trousers, zipped up the back, my hot black anorak, the straps and thick chainsawing gloves...brush cutting here we come. I love the repetitive swing of the machine, it's high pitched whine and the satisfaction of felling triffids! Aubons (porrasa) are about 4' high. ... with her previous owner Fred. September storms nearly wrecked them on their return, and as Greg read from a photocopy of the ships log (1983) we could imagine the violent sway, creak of timbers and terrifying moment when the tiller snapped. Her mayday was answered by a commercial vessel heading for Le Havre who offered shelter and welded the tiller, allowing Patna some chance of completing her voyage. She survived 11 storms and on arrival at the Scilly Isles, Fred, ...

... Just like yesterday she was excellent company on the ride home as we chatted horses and travel. Pete traded some valuable rope for regular fish from one of the old boys in the marina and created a beautiful light batter with flour and San miguel. Lovely fish and chip dinner to finish off the day! I love my weekends! Not that the work in the week is exhausting like it used to be...but the weekend gives me a chance to explore, and I have enjoyed doing so. This ...
