Travel Day - Flores to Chetumal

730am departure but in true Latin American style we were told not to worry till 815. Our shuttle arrived at 813. Today I was still feeling dreadful so again a bit of a blur. Border crossing - Guatemala into Belize was surprisingly quite easy. Greeted by a guide who swapped our quetzals for a decent rate and crossed the border with minimal hardship. Back to the bus - another couple of hours to Belize City 6pm reached the Mexican border Taxi to our hostel La ...

... used banana leaves instead of corn husks. They were very good. By the time we got home, we were exhausted, bit up, sun burned, and sore. What a day! Just to put things into perspective, here is a little information to share with you. Orange Walk Town, located in the district of Orange Walk, is the second largest city/town in Belize. Next time I will probe for some information about how some of Katie's studies are doing. I could say from general things she's told me but it's better to get the details right! I also need to tell you about the ongoing fiasco with my truck :-(

Oh, and one more thing; we've managed to get our camera repaired. I got it back the other day! So now we can take photos again. Will try and post some next time.

    ... here anyway.

It's too hot do do anything quickly really. During the day at the moment we're getting temperatures of 36. We're gradually getting used to it though. The hotel doesn't have air con except for one room but you have to pay to have it on. Since most do not have air con in the houses (as its too expensive to run) we have just been using the fans provided. No covers are required at night as it's still between 25 - 27 degrees.

So after 6 or so weeks on the road Montys planning still isn't that flash. In making attempt to get down into Belize i was a little slow in reaching the border town in Chetumal so needed to stay for one more night.

This is maybe a good point to reflect back on my Mexico experience. I have to say that it blew me away in so many respects. All of my expectations were exceeded and any apprehensions unfounded.

'As an aside i have ...
