... rocks and freezing water to go swimming! So relaxing. The other thing Pag Island is famous for is PARTYING. We happened to arrive one week after the on season had finished. Somehow, though, we still managed to have a pretty massive night. Cocktails go for about 200 kuna here which translates to about $7 ...

We were up early and left the apartment by 7.30am, the drive to Pag Island only took 1.5hrs which was a lot quicker than Jo initially thought. Pag town was situated on both sides of two islands connected by a causeway. The drive towards Kolan was up the mountain and there were excellent views to the coast and ocean below. The photos unfortunately don't show off the landscape to its full potential.

          ... we got ready and
          headed down to the beach.

It was again a very warm day so when we got there we got
straight in to the water. Again the water was nice and clear and while it was
rocky at the edge, it became sandy as you got further out. The beach stayed
shallow for a reasonable distance into the water and the water was a great
temperature. We sat on the sand for a bit and Steve went back to the beach
          stalls to get ...

          ... shortly as we
were aiming to catch a 4:30 ferry across to the island. The road was very
windy, with beautiful views, but a lot of the bus began to feel rather unwell.
No one was sick though which was good. When we got to the ferry there was a
huge line up of cars. Ishty let Hugh off to get our ticket then we continued to
drive in the second lane down the hill to the front of the line. Hugh had to
run down after us. With our cue jumping we made it ...

... groups only issued denials. What troubled me was the Croats' evident need to hide behind them, as if a simple apology without qualifiers might delegitimate them as a nation." No one is innocent in the Balkans. Every group has blood on their hands. On the train ride back, I tried to sleep but kept thinking about what I'd seen and heard. How powerful apologies can be--both national and personal. But how pride-swallowing hard they are. When I got back to ...
