I slept through the boys getting up at 8am and was woken with Lucy poking me at 9am. Had another provided breakfast at the hostel!! After eating a big breakfast we spent an hour packing up our stuff. Whilst packing we were provided with entertainment by aspiring Eurovision popstar, Emma, who was dancing round the room doing karaoke. She clearly used up all her energy as she slept all the way to Verona and now Milan (I'm writing this on the ...

... to walk over lots of slippery rocks to reach a deep enough area. After developing a crab-style slide/walk we reached a good place with minor injuries. After having ice creams Lucy and Emma moved their towels to follow the sun, however they seemed to annoy it as it decided to disappear behind a lot of clouds. So for the past couple of hours the temperature has become bearable for the first time since being in Italy. Katie even used the word 'chilly'! ...

Emma said farewell to Venice adding 'until I'm engaged'. We had to make our first change on a train today. The first journey to Verona was smooth and I'm glad to report there was a very efficient air conditioning ...

I don't want to leave Verona specifically because of the air conditioning. Did something really stupid. I decided to walk to the train station. I thought if I walked slowly it would be okay. Not a good idea. Very hot. I watched a bit of the Italian TV news and I think they were saying most of Europe is experiencing a heat wave. I'm counting the seconds until I board the train. AND guess what? Now that I'm on board the ...

... I decided to purchase my ticket for the opera and then my first seafood since our first night in Greece. As for the opera, what can I say. Fantastico! Stupendo!! You get the idea. Very unusual set design and a beautiful ballet to begin with the overture. Even understood some of the Italian and a spectacular ending with fireworks. An enthusiastic burst of applause from the audience. The only negative was the heat, otherwise ...
