... Italy has a public health system, which she says works well but is very, very slow. If you need to get blood work done, your doctor will give you a prescription, you then make an appointment with the hospital which will be in about 15 or 20 days. Once the blood test is done you need to wait 15 days for the results and then you need to go back to your doctor. If you have to stay in the hospital for a procedure you will have to ...

... We were off! Exiting the building through 7 levels of switchbacks was a good introduction to Italian roads. For those of you who might not have had the opporunity to drive in Italy or Europe, the parking garages as well as the streets tend to be about 3 sizes smaller than they are in North America.

... finding that as we head further south people do not speak much English. The owner was very nice and gave all of us a large dinner plate. Don't know if I will be able to carry home. Experienced difficulty getting through to our destination as the road had been closed due to landslides. Finally worked our way back to the major road and arrived about 7 pm. Wonderful seaside/fishing village. The weather much better today so did a bit of exploring around the town and surrounding areas on ...

I have a few days to catch up on. No wifi in Sorrento so no blog. An amazing drive from Lecce to Maratea - such dramatic mountains and valleyys and such winding roads. We stopped on the way to view some 5 th century bc ruins. Maratea in retrospect was a lovely area - a quieter version of Amalfi. We had wonderful views from our hotel balcony and black sand beaches a short walk below. On our fine afternoon we drove ...
