    We left Stresa on Lake Maggiore in Lombardy at 8.30 am to go to Venice. On the way we stopped at Sirmione on Lake Garda.

    The coach had to park outside the town and we walked in. Antonia asked if any of us wanted to go on a speed boat trip around the island so we put up our hands for that.     ... experience….dimly lit pastel colored buildings, old narrow cobblestone streets, little store windows lightly lit to show their valuable contents and a small church with a beautiful spire and a Roman column marking the front entrance. It was we were walking into a postcard picture of a quaint, ancient little town! As we wandered our way towards the town center we marveled at the clean streets and the antiquity that surrounded us.
