... but miraculously we made it. (See Vicki - WE NEED YOU!). We arrived in Florence with a whole 20 minutes to spare (luxury!) so bought ourselves some lunch to take on the next train headed for Venice. Thankfully, that all went smoothly. Graham even managed to connect to the train's wifi, so was able to listen to the Eagles winning the preliminary final. (This time it was our turn to provide the running commentary via text to ...

... again so we headed for home pronto as we hadn't taken our umbrellas or coats with us. We had a drink and a rest and when the weather looked settled about 5 pm we decided to go for a gondola ride. When we got to the gondola place the wind had suddenly picked up and they didn't want to take us in case it turned nasty so he told us to go have a drink and wait 15 minutes to see what the wind did. We have been travelling 2nd class and it really is very comfortable. The journey between Venice and Rome on the Frecciaargento (silver train, the red ones are the fastest) takes about 3 and a half hours and the distance is about 530 kms. We have been enjoying the coffee here in Italy as compared to Turkey. In ...

... we were in a strange movie… just waiting for someone to shout “ACTION” and we could either honk the horn scaring everyone or maybe slamming the car into reverse… the possibilities seemed endless and only slightly vindictive! The group finally moved and therefore, so did we. Fast Forward… we got out… we hope we will not get a traffic ticket in the mail. On our way into Florence the hotel told us that ...

... it's just a few puddles, but they keep growing and growing, and pretty soon thousands of people that already felt cramped up are constantly tossing up whether the water is at the bottom of their soles or getting too close the top, and on the other hand those people around them are worth getting to know on a deeper level as the huddle forces them to bond. Regardless we made it to Florian to sit in the sun, imbibe a few Venezian biers and ...
