Day 40 - Friday 7th February Bus took 5 hours to the boarder from San Jose. From there we got a shuttle for 45 mins to Almirante. And from there we got a boat for 30 mins and voila - hello Bocas Del Toro! We should have learned by now that weekends on islands are busy times, especially if we are arriving late in the evening. But we haven't!! No …

... Good Morning at 7 AM from Playas del Coco! I don't know why I woke up this early. Good thing I was ready for breakfast! The breakfast that came included with our room consisted of toast, orange juice, watermelon, pineapple, papayas, and strawberries. A very healthy breakfast if I do say so myself. After a great meal, it was straight to the beach for us! We waste no time out here. We went back to Playas del Coco and soaked up sun for about 4 hours (take plenty of sun block!). ...

... hot drinks here are coffee and agua dulce - a mix of brown sugar, water and hot milk. We went high up in the hills of Santa Ana to a traditional brown sugar mill that is powered by two bulls. It is the last of its kind in San Jose. It was closed but the very proud owner let us in and showed us around. Just around the corner was a mask maker. The owner is the grandson of one of the most famous mask makers in Costa Rica ...
