    ... cliff side with a garden hose - I also saw Alassio written on the clif side and there it was, the little access road, the small winding road down to the beach. The road I ran bare foot to tell Anna to ring the fire brigade when our bus burned.


    The camp site was gone. The access road was a private road with a gate. It was still amazing to stand there and look down on the beach I had loved so much as a kid. But I had places to go and things to do.

    Near Riva Trigoso I hit the coast again and slowly the clouds began to break up and some sun came through. I hadn't bothered to look at any maps, as I just had to head towards Genoa and beyond and I would be heading towards Abenga and Alassio.

    ... have put a whacking great motorway along the whole coast but hidden it pretty well by yet more tunnels and keeping it high.

    Happily we have found Italy to be way cheaper than France so far in terms of food and drink prices which is a great relief as we have been killing our budget with the price of things out here!! Olive oil, coffee, veggies, icecream and meat are all way cheaper!
