      ... located on an island, which made it even nicer. Savonlinna is also located on several lakes. It's a city of 30,000 people or so and if there weather was nicer, I would have loved to go on a lake cruise, but it poured down rain all day. The lake cruises are only 10 euros and last about 2 hours, so in the future if I come back, I would like to do a cruise ...

      I had been here 34 years ago and remembered the waterways as far more spectacular so the haze we're experiencing is covering the real beauty of all these surrounds but we had a great time exploring this old castle and the views out.

      We phoned ahead to book a cabin a bit out of the way and (after a great sight seeing tour) eventually found the very pleasant camp site tucked away in the woods by a lake. We had a cabin close to the sauna ...

      ... we are off sightseeing around here and as soon as I have a chance later today will post a few photos. Really enjoying this time here by the lake and watching the world go by and wondering what the rest of the world is doing on a day like today?
