Vila Gale Marina Hotel

We have struck gold again! Like lucky prospectors we have stumbled upon a real gem and can't believe our good fortune. Olaf and Rosetta had posted a last minute request and, of the three in the area, who would take us at short notice, they were the first to respond. They have a 3 hectare property tucked 'invisibly' into the rolling hills and dry scrub just north of Monchique in inland Algarve. The land gently slopes down from a fresh water well and dammed swimming lake ...
... nighttime activities consisted of comparing Portuguese lagers and watching penalties, you can tell the Dutch have been practicing, they even have a special keeper only for shoot-outs. Hats off to Costa Rica in any case. Today we might quickly check out Faro, but our next stop is now inland. Evora, another unesco heritage place, awaits us in the ...
... are going up slightly. The highlight of today was undeniably the best beach I've seen so far in Portugal, Carvalho beach near Lagoa, between Lagos and Albufeira. Some places in Lagoa look like a Portuguese version of Beverly Hills, but it has really sweet collection of cove beaches. See pictures below. Tomorrow, we may or may not make it to ...
... the influence came from more current interactions. He also mentioned that there were a lot of African/Afro-European chefs throughout the country which I find very interesting. Fabio's input today was a great start and definitely helped me brainstorm and draft more questions to ask as I move forward throughout the continent. And it was right on time because tomorrow I will be on the road again. Next stop, Seville, ...
... was just a convenient bowl shaped sink. It was time to go. We walked the shop street where we were drawn into a lovely smelling tourist store. Most of the souvenirs were identical to the Coffs Harbour souvenirs minus bananas. The only difference was the name printed on the base of the sea theme gifts. We did find the Portugal patches we had been looking for tho. No English was spoken, but we conversed with the owner. He saw our Australian patches ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Vila Gale Marina Hotel Vilamoura
If you can't beat em join em!
Found the reviews most helpful and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room on 9th floor did give fantastic view of marina. Took 7 mnth old and 4 yr old children and plenty of room for us all. Please note you can hire a fridge for a small daily fee, essential for me with a baby. Couldn't fault breakfast, it is the Algarve! Go to restaurant before 10am tho to avoid waiting. As for the sun beds, think its a dreadful shame but if you can't beat em join em!
Recently returned from this hotel and reading some of the comments certainly made us laugh - yes the sunbeds!
i took the time to read the reviews here before i went to this
Fantastic Hotel and location
My wife and i had read the reports on this hotel and hoped it was as good as it sounded, and we were not dissapointed. Fantastic hotel lovely views we were on the seventh floor, some rooms arent so lucky view wise so may i suggest you ask for see and or marina view.
Villamoura was lovely clean and tidy but becareful expensive....!
If your into golf its superb or just to relax by the pool you wont be dissapointed.
we booked with expedia and it was so smooth i recommend them to.
Night life in hotel was ok if your young then go out mainly older couples and golfers go here!
If you want to relax unwind and pamper yourselves this is a great place to start so go and enjoy it we did.
I have just returned from the Vila Gale Marina. On the whole I was very disappointed with this holiday. Firstly, to start off with we were allocated to a smoking room when we specified for a smokers room, getting stuck twice in a lift for 20 mins wasnt much fun either.
Wonderful. The staff were efficient and polite, cleaners were always smiling and hard-working, waiting and dining-room staff were wonderful, and the manageress is perfect in her job. Food was great, always lots of choice, (my only critisism, too much fish for a non-fish eater,) but spoilt for choice at all meal-times. Room had loads of storage space.
Just back from a weeks stay at the Vila Gale Marina Hotel in Vilamoura, good hotel with nice big clean rooms with excellent views of the huge marina there, and just a couple of minutes walk away. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Be warned if you arive on an early flight you may have to wait until lunchtime to check in. And you need to be up quite early to get a sunbed in the sun, as quite a large area round the pool doesn't get the sun till lunchtime. Hotel gets reduced rates on local golf courses, and transportation is provided. The prices for golf were at peak just as we left in mid-September. Vilamoura is lovely, spoilt for choice in resturaunts and some nice shops. Can recommed the 'Bella Italia' for fab Italian food, and the fish resturaunts are great and reasonably priced - try the Monkfish Cataplana! And the place is buzzing, good for people watching. Would especially recommend this resort for couples and golfers.
