Hi everybody! Portugal is one of the few western European countries that we hadn't visited so far, but all that changed when we took a 10 day trip there at the end of May. We flew into Lisbon and spent three days in Lisbon before heading to the fishing villages and (cold and windy) beach north of there. We then crossed the country diagonally to the southeastern corner before driving the southern coastline to what used to be the end of the known world. Along the way we found incredibly warm an...

We walked into the town through a nature reserve that was adorned, in what we now recognized as normal Portuguese style, with plastic bottles ...
A silent drive to the train station. Frank drops me off, and I don't say a word as I grab my bag and close the car door. Now what? North or South? I could likely stay with Luis again in Lisbon, but I hate backtracking. Its 6:30 in the morning, and the first train arrives at 7:00, heading North. I ponder for the 30 minutes, then when the train does arrive, I let it pass. I'll head South, to Faro. I'm not sure when this ...
Faro, Faro, Portugal jmckerricher... to head into London city to get to Gatwick) but since we landed at Terminal 4, we needed to get ourselves to Terminal 5 in order to get on the shuttle service to Gatwick (to do this, we were told to use a local bus, however even the locals had troubles identifying which bus one would catch from which stop as they keep changing them so often,
It actually took 30 mins to get from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5. When at Gatwick, we had problems identifying which was the ...
... from staying here, was lovely and quiet in the day time and very busy in the evenings, when lobster-red foreigners wandered the streets looking for dinner in one of the many characterful restaurants. Being careful not to judge the entire Algarve without having visited it, we did notice a standoffishness and a reluctance to communicate using Portanol. Too many Spanish tourists perhaps? In almost every bar, shop and restaurant, people were more keen ...
Tavira, Algarve, Portugal warmBussed to Faro, a small seaside town with not a hell of a lot really!!
Our room had no window, but faked the appearance by having a curtain anyway... nothing like a little bit of closet sleeping!!
Went for a swim at the beach/lagoon with our 1.60 euro bottle of red ...

Lähim korralik pood asus ilmselt Faros (22 km).
Quarteira, Algarve, Portugal pille... treacherous to walk on for me but the ladies often wear heels and seem to have no problem. We visited the Pingo Doce before heading out to the beach. We´re sure going to miss it when we go to Spain. The weather was perfect again (how long can it stay like this?). We read and Lee took a nice run on the beach again. We left a little earlier and the mosquitoes stayed away. I am still amazed at all of the building underway along the coast. I counted at least 25 cranes just ...
