    ... in, and luckily he was not there when we were checking out, in fact nobody was there for us to checkout, even though we went during the “hour of checkout.” We had some good laughs the whole time we were there anyways, wondering if we were going to have some surprise visitors during the night….I can thankfully say that was our worst hostel experience we had out of 6 or so hostels and they kept getting better and nicer as we went along the coast.

    Pack up at gite as we have to leave today. Goodbye to lovely grandparents, Pirette and Serge and the rest of family at Ecole de Saint Roman. We cannot go too far as Patrick has a dentist appointment for a broken tooth later this afternoon. So Aigues-Mortes again, this time to walk the ramparts. When we arrive we are not allowed to take the dogs with us. Too hot to leave them in the car. Nothing is going right! Sulky lunch then off to dentist. Dentist, ...

    After long chats last night we decide to head out today, do a bit of sightseeing and give the bikes a gentle go beside the Rhone-Sete canal. Off to tower that we saw from the boat. It stands on a causeway and was an outpost for Aigues-Mortes. Anyone approaching from the landward side would have to use this causeway to cross the marshes, dead waters hence Aigues-Mortes.     That evening Mike and Christine had been invited out to dinner again by a Swiss couple, Charlotte and Manfred. I tagged along as the token Aussie and we had yet another delectable meal in delightful company.
