Discovering the island of Sylt
... hired a small car on the island to get around in, easier that way. The trip there takes 2 hours 40 min but for some reason unknown to us, it always runs late. Typical German railway they say, both private and public rail, always runs late. So be it, we were cool, the sun was shining once again , all is good. As soon as we got there we picked up the car and went for a drive around the island. It is a very different scene there, very rugged and oh so windy. ...
Last Hurrah with Sarah: Sylt
... ride was fun, they pulled up a bit of the sea floor and dumped it out in a tank. We were able to pick out the starfish, crabs, etc and touch them. The scenery leaving the island was great as well, and the weather cooperated all weekend. There was a sand dune south of Sylt, and there were a decent number of seals tanning there. When we got back we walked along the beach in Hörnum and got more seashells. We caught the bus back to Westerland and decided to go to the pool ...
Two Americans on a German Resort Island
... sampled a few bars' atmospheres with a few drinks to celebrate Blake's birthday (technically it wasn't until July 2 but I wasn't going to see him then). It was a fun night out.
Sunday we slept relatively late again and took a bus to the southern end of the island this time. In Hoernum we bought tickets for a seal-watching boat tour and got lunch at a seaside stand (currywurst) before boarding. On the boat, they dropped a net off the back of the ...
And so to Denmark
... it 23. I only found this as I hit the roadworks shortly after leaving Heide.
So back on route, on the L5/23 I head north for Denmark where the L5 becomes the 11!
Another country for me to tick off on my bucket list!
Apparently the Danes have reinstated border checks, but not on this road, maybe they don't come out in the rain. Maybe it is only on the east side, on the E45 auto route.

The Search for the Red Cliff
... further! I may be easily amused :P. While walking across the beach, I took my sweet time and started collecting seashells. I got the feeling Christoph would have preferred that I did not choose to do this. But haha they came home with me anyways :P We also saw what we thought was a fishing boat bringing in a catch. I guess that might be rather silly since they were fairly close to shore. Anyways they were doing some sort of demonstration for the passengers on ...
