... and even offered me snacks. The road was much better than I expected (always expect the worse, than it's never really bad) but had many turns. And I don't know why, but the Asian bus-drivers all seem to be suicidal; driving insanely fast on small roads and overtaking busses and trucks. ... were too many times where the path redefined the term "straight and narrow." Looking down was not always a good idea. Besides the fact that I actually survived, here's the cool stuff.

  • We saw Orangutans: Our guide had one orangutan eat passion-fruit off of my neck. Take a look at the picture to see how that went.

... that was so small I could not turn myself... I found out later. In any case we met up later to check if we can book a Bromo tour together and we found one leaving 01.30 the next morning. So went back to the hostel had a good sleep and found a nice little warung where I had some bebek which is duck.
Had some sleep in the impossible bed surrounded by traffic noise and calls for prayer and waited outside at 01.30 for the jeep to so show ...

Certainly lives up to the hype.

... so we negotiated that we would each pay 50,000INR to leave there and then instead of waiting for 6 more people to turn up. The road climbs steeply uphill through picturesque countryside with great views back down the valley and took 1hr 15mins. You pass through a Park checkpoint on the way and have to pay a 75,000INR entrance fee. The Dutch started in 1910 a black tea plantation in the hills of this fertile region and mixed it later with green and white tea trees. After 1945 they had to leave it at the Indonesian government who exploits it still today. More than 600 people work here daily 8h and mainly by hand with a big smile! ...
