They'd hired a Bemo which they were travelling back to Melang in and they invited us to ride with them. We headed back with them into the city and just had to catch one bemo back to the hostel.

Extremely humbled and happy that the trip to the orphanage was so positive, we left Melang the next day on a train bound for Yogyakarta. ...

... really steep climbs and descents but absolutely loved it, I can truly say I have experienced the jungle!

After our trekking we went back to camp and lunch before heading off rafting down the river and back to the village. Although the river is quite low just now it was a fun experience and I was relieved not to be trekking back out. ... surreal being so intimate with Jackie and something we will always remember.
The final descent to camp was the hardest downhill stretch we had done, scrambling backwards for almost an hour, it was such a relief when we arrived. We jumped straight into the ice cold river it was so refreshing! We showered in the river and then enjoyed tea and biscuits before a yummy dinner of marinated chicken, veg curry, tofu and tomatoes and rice. We were so impressed with ...
