... after the hike, but the cooler temperature at altitude didn't make them super appealing as it was already quite fresh up there. There is a tiny pool of water at the base of the waterfall to sit in. A little disappointing in the end, but the hike was still nice and scenic. But maybe don't ride/hike the whole way just to see the falls. - Walk to Balgue. ... lacerations later, a fair amount of blood loss, a ripped up shirt to staunch the blood and a drunken walk later we arrived at the local clinic where the poor doc was woken up to stitch me back together. That's a new first for me. I probably would have said no to stitches had we not been partying with an emergency physician from Ontario who told me he would stitch the laceration to my knee. ... and scary!! The mouth of the volcano was completely covered with jungle. This volcano hasn't erupted since the 1500s. The hike we did was around the mouth of the volcano and had some of the best views. I couldn't believe it, I was in actually jungle. At the top, you could see Lake Nicaragua and Granada in the distance. You could hear the holler monkeys from up here too. I was still in awe that had just climbed a volcano and was standing on top of it!
