If you enjoy mountains, it doesn't likely get much better than this. Our day was a fairly clear one as well.

When we arrived at Interlaken we then had to take an extended series of trains, lifts, buses, etc. to get to our eventual destination which was Schilthorn ...

Just about the only sound you hear while hiking is your own breathing, distant water falls, and cowbells.

I wanted to stop for lunch, but I wasn't sure if I had time, so I settle for granola bars on the go. 2 and half hours after I started, I saw the peak, but infront of it ...

... snow covered our tracks as we explore the exterior. A thermometer read -3 Celsius. Returning into the mountain, we took a elevator to the station's highest point, the oddly-named Sphynx station. It is crowned with an observatory and viewing platform, with a gift shop and five opulent restaurants inside. Its bathrooms have granite countertops and hot water. The view from the top began as another sheet of white, but the rocky outcrop gave ...

A Swiss surprise

... bumps as I mistook a mirror for the path... I visited the Bourbaki panorama, which is a huge round painting along the inside of a domed building. It depicts a scene from the Franco-Prussian war, and all the soldiers that were marched into Switzerland for some bizarre reason. Unfortunately the English commentary was out of order so I didn't really understand that much. After that I finally felt ready to leave beloved Lucerne.

... visited in 1986 (if it was good enough for my cousin, it is good enough for me). The dining room was paneled in light wood, very nice...and a very enjoyable evening. Shirley joined us this evening and the three of us had a good time. I can’t wait for tomorrow and the Glacier Express train trip to St. Moritz. Before I go any further, I have to say again that the scenery has been spectacular! I never get tired of looking at it.

... group in this place, but several groups, and everyone started getting up and dancing in a circle around the room, holding onto the shoulders of those in front of them, kicking their feet around and laughing. I didn't want to get up, and let them go past me for awhile, but complete strangers kept coming along and trying to pull be up. Finally, someone actually lifted my chair off the ground, so I gave in and joined the dance. It was a lot of fun.
