... have loved to go up to the top of the Cathedral, but there was such a long line and we would have been there all day. So instead, we opted to head over to the other things we wanted to do.
We went into two museums, the Musee Orangerie, which housed both Renoir and Monet paintings, and the Musee D'Orsay which housed several famous artists, but the two most famous paintings I saw there were Whistler's mother and Starry Night over the Rhone by Van Gogh. I wasn't prepared to ...

It ended up being right across from the Louvre, so we detoured into there and walked around the grounds, again not wanting to wait in line to get in and deciding that we may have to come back to Paris some day to have a peek inside these places ...
... read. Simple, but personal to this part of the world. Of course there were a great many statues of Saint Michael slaying that dragon. In the souvenir shops there were lots of swords, suits of armour and battle equipment. This appealed to many of the little boys visiting the Abbey today. Several times I stopped to check out the souvenirs and looked at the little medallions, crosses and the like. They are small and easy to pack. Each time I let my eyes wander over the display ...
