The cathedrals were all open, with the exception of the one at Chalons-en-Champagne (day 20). They varied in size and architectural style but they all tended to have wonderful stained-glass windows.

I have to confess that a lot of the history of France was lost on me. This was partly because I couldn't translate the explanatory notes made available ...

Switzerland is such a beautiful country, everywhere you look is picture from a travel brochure. However, one week in Switzerland is enough to know that my insides are not designed for such rich Swiss food. I arrived in Geneva, and with instructions from Kathy Zimmerman (which I didn't follow very well because I was still feeling the effects of the cocktails from the night before) I managed to eventually get my way via train to Lausanne. No surprises that ...
