... to the cityscapes we had been driving through thus far. One of the more popular things to do in Slovakia is hike through the Tatra Mountains. There are locations with almost rainforest-like scenery and wooden ladders left in place for hikers to scramble around various areas. We wouldn't have time to see those sights today since we needed to be in Poland by Saturday and the hikes generally take a full day themselves. The scenery wasn't lost on us though. ...

... tonight. It was mostly Johann and Josep Strauss with some movements, polkas and waltzes. It was beautiful with four soloists and a lot of fun with a delightful percussionist with a huge sense of humor. He and the conductor were great together. Everyone in the orchestra seemed to be having as much fun as we were.

The mining magnate Thurzo family, who took charge in the mid 16th century, were responsible for a great deal of rebuilding work, although its present form was not finalized until 1611. It burned down again in 1800, after which the Pálffys occupied the castle. And then, after a period of dilapidation and WWII the castle became a national monument.

From there we were back onto the bus and back on our way to Poland.

Good songs I know and we had Jon Bon Jovi pumping when the bus pulled over on the side of the road seemingly in the middle of no where. We looked across the road to see 2 tanks just sitting there in all their glory in a paddock! We disembarked and were briskly ushered into 2 groups. The Tank was set into 4 sections separated only by waist high bars across the length of the tanks inside. 4 people to each row and the girls all at the front and boys ...
