... Went to check out a close-by restaurant for dinner (from travel book), but it's closed 'til January 6, so reception has just booked us a table at Ombra again. But first we are heading down for our complimentary drink at the hotel's bar! Then it will be home to get sorted for our departure tomorrow for Florence. Luckily our train isn't 'til 12:55, and hotel checkout not 'til 11:00, so we can have another slow morning. ...

... a little. Immediately we were mobbed by street vendors selling umbrellas, which we turned down. As the stone walkways got wet, Jess's thongs somehow reacted with the wet stone to create a zero friction environment, and she could now only walk while clutching onto my arm. You pushed a button and the wall slid open, when you got inside there were 2 buttons to push, one to shut the door and the second to lock the door. Inside there was also a "spring loaded" toilet seat - she had been having trouble with these already. As she put it, she finally got the seat down, sat on it and did her business. When she stood ...

    Wonderful Venice

... have a short rest and then caught up with R&W and Mick and Lesley to go back into town via bus and boat, to all have a gondola ride together (to save money). The sky got really black (like a GC storm) so we decided to have a few beers under the cover of restaurant umbrellas (moving about 3 times to avoid the rain). It didn't really let up so we decided we weren't going to have our gondola ride and headed back to the boat shuttle ...
