    Joanna and I had a really good rest, so we were refreshed and ready to take on a big day of sightseeing.

    Background of Venice: it is a city built on stilts. The wooden poles were cut from trees from the surrounding lagoon area. This seems crazy in my head, but somehow it works, and the city of canals is one of the most famous in the world.
