... closing out the day and only re affirming that our guide was madder than a cut snake. I mean, what right Italian doesn't like Football?! With a last big open water kayak accomplished but with less ferries to negotiate we rounded on Certosa Island and our point of embarkation, tired but eminently happy with our accomplishments. Dinner was taken at the excellent RossoPomodoro before watching the lights twinkle over San Marco ...

Before we entered St Marks Cathedral I had lent Pepi my plastic poncho in case she needed it to cover her knees and when she handed it back to me I just shoved it in, unfolded, in the top of my bag. While we were standing in ...

... Anyway, we started off going up the St. Mark's Campanile (the Bell Tower). Unfortunately, we cannot climb this tower. We HAD to take the elevator. It was a total bummer, but at least we had great views of Venice through the gates.

St. Mark's Basilica is beautiful. There was a service going on when we entered, but once that's over, the lights lit up the place. The entire place is gold plated so it was really really shiny. ...
