... giving the impression of an infinity pool! Our hotel for the night was the remote Hofsstadir, a collection of single-storey wooden buildings housing cabins and the smart dining room, overlooking nothing but the estuary. Dinner was very special, I had a potato & barley cake with homegrown new potatoes, wild mushrooms and a salad with wild blueberries and strawberry dressing. An imaginative meal, beautifully ...

There seems to be a curse on Skulason luggage!! Heather and Margaret arrived this morning without their bags...lost somewhere in Toronto :( We met up with Thor's girls at Kolkous after getting a bit lost - again! We drove on a bumply little road (about 6 km) down the fjord to Kolkous and were amazed with the beauty of this secluded and serene place.

Chris and Brett fished all night from the rocks, while we visited Ţórhildur in this ...

... a slither of meringue and a machine coffee. Simply unbelievable.

As we sit in this Cafe, the waiter tells us that they are having a very hot summer. We are hearing it but hardly believing it but we suppose it is all relative to where you are brought up and live. Invariably in the eating places we have visited in Iceland, they have background music which is almost always 70s and 80s music. Today, a bit of Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones and even Johhny O'Keefe. Noel even knows ...

The big drive to Skagafjordur in the north

Today we drove from the west to mid north. After breakfast at the Hotel Hellnar where we stayed for the night, we toured the Snaefellsjokull National Park. Because of the drizzle and rain, we could not do any hiking or go to the mountain top. This is the place that inspired Jules Verne's book 'Journey to the center of the Earth'. The park scenery was amazing. Many old lava fields with mosses and lichens of various shades of green ...
