      We climbed the 56 steps leading up to this impressive House of Worship only to find, not open until 10am, too late for us. However, as we know, if you are there for prayer, there is always a side door. And so there was in this instance also.

      The Cathedral is dedicated to St.Andrew. Two Italian cleaning ladies were methodically mopping the floor and quietly chatting. Their ministry to God in that place!

      ... about bringing Vegemite but I dismissed the idea and seriously did think I could go twelve weeks without it!


      It sounds terrible and I do feel a little ashamed that I couldn't hold out three months without Vegemite especially since I would not say I was addicted to the 'black paste'. I certainly do not have it every morning at home, but it must be, that I know it's in the fridge !

      ... waiting to be heated. The shop/gallery was full of beautiful pieces. We managed to limit ourselves to one plate and a small oil pourer. Both are being freighted directly home.

      It is a long ascent from the Funicolare up winding, narrow cobble stoned passages lined either side with various shops and some really lovely shops. I couldn't resist the Cashmere outlet, again famous in this region. I did, however resist the most beautiful ...

      ... Apart from my "grazie", after her gestures, like, capping up, indicating waiting time with her fingers, gesturing me to the wash area and back again, the blow dry, oh, and she did indicate by holding up the scissors and shaking her head, negatively, that no cut is needed, not a word!

      So, this left me wondering. My wonderful hairdresser, Lauren, engages in conversation from the moment I walk in until I walk out....minimum 3 hours.

      Montepulciano offers tons of artistic, cultural and tourist events besides "New Moon."

      But then you have this souvenir shop which was a bust for "Twilight" stuff. Another one of those situations -- Trim Castle, Forli and Sound of Music in Salzburg -- where they have an untapped gold mine among the most traveled people on the planet, Americans, and they seem to be ignoring it. Or maybe it's just my American ethnocentrism.
