... in Italy for 6 months, we decided to do the right thing and apply for our visas. Any Italians we spoke to about this thought we were crazy .... "You will regret this, the paperwork will drive you mad, don't do it , just stay anyway" ......Just a few of the more polite comments!!

... We do not disagree. Unfortunately for us they were engaged in restorative work on the exterior front. The inside was pristine. The church is rich with paintings and frescoes. In fact Mike (aka Michelangelo) reviewed the ceiling and wall art before painting the Sistine Chapel. Bird is also especially impressed with the alternating black and white stone work. Rather surprising they could build such a structure in a fairly out of the way place during the middle ...

Lovari, who started out painting the traditional italian esspresso/moka coffee pot, with real coffee "paint"....and now also does modern functional sculptures, which she sells and exhibits all over the world. Would have loved one of her sculpted 'paintings' of a huge lantern, however the €2000 tag was breathtaking!!

Very busy time here now in Italy. Anywhere that has olive trees.....it's harvest time !!
Extra excitement this year ,as the 2014 olive harvest was devasting.There was a very extensive insect plague last year that virtually wiped out much of the olive harvest with very little oil produced from Italy.
The olive groves have been tended and checked very carefully this year, the grass is trimmed from underneath the trees, lots of invites ...
