Woke at 7am to our church bells but had a quiet start as we did not have to meet till 10am. Blue skies and warm. We had breakfast then I went shopping with Carol and the other girls in a tiny deli that sold all local meats, cheeses, oils, green tomato paste etc. the others all tried out their Italian while I asked Carol to order our sandwich. She looked a bit like a peasant with missing teeth ...

No photos were able to be taken here but Giovanni took a sneaky pic and got caught and we got kicked out. Luckily we were able to sneak back in and appreciate the beautiful works. The final part of our tour was St. Peter basilica which is always amazing to see again. We took pictures, visited the pope tombs and saw the magnificent statues. ...

A travel blog entry by heatherandjohn on May 29, 2015

    ... 30th May

John cycled into town this morning and managed to pick up a walking map. We started our walk just outside the campsite and headed up through woods on what in winter would be the ski pistes. We passed a couple of ski lifts on the way. At the top of the valley, we headed over the saddle and trekked steeply downhill to a lovely open valley area which had picnic tables and a refuge. After lunch, we climbed up through ...
