Let me start by saying this was more of a science excursion than a camp...

Wednesday dawned bright and early...okay, well not really. Our journey began as school started at 9 am. How else do you travel when at a private school, but by luxury coach, of course! 38 students, 5 teachers, 3 parents (and a partridge in a pear tree) all excited to embark on a wonderful trip to the Abruzzo National Park.

It didn't take long for the Roman skyline ...

We had a fabulous guide, who talked to us about the town, as well as life in Italy since the GFC, and how it feels to be living in an earthquake zone etc. Sulmona is just up the road from L'Aquila which ...

... a large market twice a week which is very popular with the locals. Sulmona's key industry is confetti - sugared almonds, coloured and made into flower shapes, ready for the guests at Italian weddings. They are very colourful, and really quite garish, but there are numerous shops selling them. I can't quite see them taking off in Australia! After all our walking, we sat down to have a prossecco and beer at a lively spot where we could watch ...

Beatrice, the bar lady tony is so popular with grabbed me while walking past with Rosie and asked if tony could look at cooker for old lady. Went off in possey of old ladies to her house. Then he had to try to fix cooker with heard of women looking on.....after that Beatrice grabbed him and asked him to fix her washing machine switch. She then force fed him on good food convinced he needed fattening up....... Now expecting gaggles of old ladies at the door needing his ...
