We drove on for 15 minutes to a place called Raiano where we had a fabulous picnic lunch next to an old hermitage built over a stream in a picturesque gorge. The food was really tasty and very Italian. Carol had a swim in the chilly stream then we moved on to the Abbey of the Holy Spirit about 15 minutes out of Suloma and on the site of where Pope Celestine V founded ...
Woken at 7am by the church bells right outside our window. I was a bit worried when I saw them yesterday but I was assured that they ring for the last time at 10pm and for the first time at 7am. Giovanni had this beautiful creamy ice coffee and I decided to have a little ...

We had planned to eat out tonight as the cupboard was looking pretty bare but as the rain persisted, we decided we could find something in our cupboard. We ended up with baked beans, fried egg, sauté potatoes and toast with a bit of cheese on the side (which didn’t really add anything to the dish). Tomorrow we head off via a supermarket for a big ...
