Pot Of Gold

A travel blog entry by marc.dwyer on Apr 10, 2015

It's very hard to wake up at 4:15am for anything, unless you've got very good reason. I need a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to coax me out of bed anytime before 7:30, and thankfully on this occasion I had something worth waking for.

Japan 2015, my sixth trip to the 'Land of The Rising Sun' in as many years. Uncountable numbers of frosty cold beers, plate after plate of gyoza, bowl after bowl of ramen, are just a few of the star attractions that keep ...

We've arrived after our epic journey from Cairns via Brisbane & Auckland. We know that we're back in the northern hemisphere as it's cold and raining. We had to wait ages for our shared transfer to our hotel which a pain after so many hours travelling. The 2 hour drive was unremarkable as it was dark. ... such as what places I have visited in Japan (Narita, Osaka and Nagoya), what my favorite Japanese food is (Sushi and Katzu), where I came from (Redmond, WA), and a few other questions.

Their english was very good, and I had no trouble understanding them. We then took a picture together. So now they have a picture of a traveling bear, and I have a picture of Japanese school kids!

... my plan was to take plenty of pictures nine days later, as I returned to Narita for my flight home. However, my camara battery died on the third day of my trip and I did not bring the charger, due to voltage differences in Japan. So no pictures of the vast grounds or the many huge and colorful temples. There are many pictures of these places online, though.
