It was a good basic hotel. The WIFI was a bit patchy, and the breakfast was very basic, but the rooms were clean and comfortable. The location was a bit out of town.

This Hotel has a claim to four stars......me thinks that three would be more appropriate.......
Still it fits all that you would need.

Today we flew to "Le Fin de Mundo", Ushuaia in the Tierra del Fuego province of Argentina. It is southernmost city in the world. The key here is the word city* as Chile actually has a town further south, but that doesn't matter to the Argentinians. The flight into the airport was a bit bumpy due to the wind in this area. It is common for planes to …

There,s a program of lectures in the lounge about penguins, the rise and fall,of the whaling industry and atmospheric phenomena of the Antarctic, and we are not allowed on the decks due to the wave action and water crashing around us. I take one seasick pill but seem to be OK and dont miss any of the meals, which are always plentiful, 3 courses at lunch and dinner, interspersed ...

... visiting the excellent Museo del Fin del Mundo, which exhibits lots of artefacts relating to the foundation of Ushuaia and the discovery of the canal. We also visited the Harberton ranch which has a marine life museum, restoring and housing numerous skeletons of dolphins, whales, seabirds and crustaceans. After this we returned to the water and to the highlight of our trip, a visit to the Penguin colonies. In total we had about an hour on the island, ...

... fine though, very warm with the heater on full blast and better than some of the other places we have stayed on our travels.

We took a wander around the town and asked a few places for information on the Beagle Channel boat trips and walking in the National Park. Ushuaia has definitely set itself up as a tourist destination. There were loads of souvenir shops, and there was even one with loads of statues and models of local wildlife and ...
