First Trip to Austria, so we had to go twice in one week! What we noticed: extremely beautiful landscape - still a part of the alps, so snow and beautiful mountain streams everywhere, everything is cheaper than Switzerland, people actually wear Dirndls (think female lederhosen dresses), the food is much better, and you can smoke everywhere - yucky!

... After that we headed out to walk, explore and eventually storm the castle (fortress) overlooking the city. Since the weather was so spectacular, the views were amazing. From there, we pressed on to St. Peter's Church. The ...

... well. We ate and while we ate, there was another worker there who was so efficient at clearing the tables, he was clearing them while people were still seated at the table. We left and returned to the information centre and informed them that we wanted to go the Hellbrunn Palace. I had read up on it earlier but just wanted to check that what I read was correct. We paid a bus fare and it took us directly to the palace. We walked in and paid for the tour to the tricky fountains ...

I think out of the three cities on this trip I was most excited to see Salzburg. I really wanted to see a smaller Austrian town, and the Sound of Music tour was a bonus! Driving into Salzburg we saw the most beautiful mountains that were still snow covered and then the small quaint towns at the bottom.

Salzburg was no different, as it was surrounded by impressive mountains and the town itself was so humble and honestly just beautiful. We ...
