... serious, and even though it was only a low transmission fluid level, I still needed $250 to do an oil change and filters during the same visit. Then, just like it happens in the U.S., a couple of days later, I noticed fluid coming out the rear end of the truck. It was not something that Pepto-Bismal could have taken care of. The rear end seals were not sealing. Another trip back to the mechanic set us back another $250.

... we've told is referred to as "happy gas", and apparently is the bromide gas that comes off the lake. Thomas the real estate guy told us that the haze is caused for a few other reasons, more specifically a dry lake bed just west of Lake Chapala combined with the burn-off of the sugar cane farms again west of Ajijic.

The house that we rented this year is in a new area for us, on the east side of Ajijic. We really enjoy living in the village and not in a gated community as it provides us with many opportunities to meet people who live in the village full-time, practice our Spanish and experience authentic Mexican traditions and customs.
