... the amazing church of Saints Jeremiah and Lucy. I'm not too enthusiastic about the body parts of saints, but this church has the entire remains of poor old Lucy on display in prime position in a glass case. In fact it looks as though they're under Christmas tree lights. St Lucy, patron saint of eye disease, was martyred in Siracusa (I was at the St Lucia Duomo there only 3 weeks ago). George had to rush back by vaporetto to the conservatorium for rehearsal, but I was able to ...

... then back onto the ferry, bus and then to bed.

In the morning we woke to a beautiful breakfast and headed back into Venice for the day. We saw the merino glass blowing demonstration where the master in a matter of minutes turned a blob of glass into an ornate horse! We then went on a Gondola ride through the canals, being serenaded by a fine young opera singer and a guy ...

... Canal. We get off at the St. Mark’s stop and then are guided on another Rick Steve’ walking tour around St Mark’s square. The tide is up when we arrive, so the low spots of the square are covered with water. Raised walking platforms have been put in place so you can keep your feet dry. We have pre-booked a front of the line ticket for St. Mark’s Basilica, but there is no lineup, so we just go in. Again, we will listen to Rick Steve’s as he ...
