... term reservations. I pointed out it would be dark by then and I didn’t want to be driving around searching for a site. Asked if he could suggest an alternative place I could park/camp the night, he wrote down a possible campsite, Fusina, and told me to head in the direction of Marghera. After 15 min driving I came upon signs for Camping Fusina. Another 10 km further on I arrived at the camp which was on ...

Our happy foursome all agree - We loved Venice! While Florence is a contemporary city that houses it's antiquities in Museums, Venice is itself an "antiquity". Apart from maintaining or propping up what is there, the city hasn't really changed, apparently, in a 1000 years. The only thing I didn't like was the American girl I chose to walk to the station with. She does yoga, you know. And is a Vegan (when it suits her). She also does couchsurfing, just to 'meet people'. ... to Venice without having an experience on a gondola? Laura, Lisa, Lauren, Lauren, Maddy, and I took the gondola together, guided with our expert driver, Moritzio. It was almost to surreal to be sitting in a boat cruising through the Grand Canal. Even though the gondola ride cost €20, it was more than worth it.  After our gondola ride came to an end, we had a delicious lunch at the nearby Hard Rock Cafe. Sure, we could have gone to a ...

... miss the leaning tower of Pisa. However, no one could tell us why it was leaning. We think it was probably so old that the foundations were beginning to get a bit wonky, but maybe it was just tired. Next we went to Torcello, not nearly as touristy, but just as interesting. Evidence of a number of ancient buildings going back to Roman times and a lovely church at which there is a striking statue of Pope Paul 1, who had a lovely face. The ...
