I climbed a tree today, I sat in this tree on a branch. Protected, Buffered. Cradled. I read my book, sitting in a tree.
Feeling guilty of all I am not doing. I watch people riding by ringing their bicycle bells. I am strangly humbled. I sit in this tree and watch, the water fall from the fountain, making its delicate shapes and slapping to the base as it loses its fight with gravity.
I notice with a small ...
Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy benitalutzShort train ride from Florence after a hair raising trip trying to return the rental car in confusing, congested and traffic restrictied Florence (don't rent a car downtown go to the airport). Bologna is an university town (even Johns Hopkin has a campus). Very historical town with a great plaza area like most towns and a great antique market.
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy pathenger... miles from a little town north of Bologna to Ferrara. Luckily they have bike friendly trains here, because that's how we got home.

That night, we met Gherardo, a friend of my former professor's, who used to live in DC, so spoke very good English, for dinner. He took us to a "typical" Bologna restaurant, I ate amazing bolognese, and we peppered Gherardo with questions about Italy, Italians ...
Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy jaeleli... at one of the local clubs. If
Italian men on the street are bed, Italian men in Italian clubs are a
hundred times worse: greasy to the extreme. Italian guys just stood
behind our group of girls -Peter was busy dancing- and intermitantly
would tried to and touch us or grab our wrists. Affter four hours I
walked home with Peter´s stunningly gorgeous Russian roomate. By
gorgeous, I mean one of the most attractive girls I have ever met in my
life ...
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy swints... we had Bolognese sauce. After lunch, we wandered around a bit more, viewing the two remaining Mideval towers of Bologna--both leaning, just not as much as the one in Pisa. We visited the city's free art collection in the town hall, and went inside the 5th largest cathedral in Europe. It was really dark inside. Though the size was impressive, I think that perhaps the Italians realized too late that, if you're going to build a giant church, you're going to have ...

Bologna, Italy chella... introduction in a presentation room was the component processing area. Here in a very new and spacious building the employees were producing crank shafts, cylinder heads and cylinder blocks, with the factory floor also home to a dazzling collection of classic Ferrari models from various eras – intended to be an inspiration to the workers of the finished masterpieces they are each playing a part in creating.

After then passing through the paint ...
Maranello, Emilia-Romagna, Italy troywilkinson... at this point. I read for a bit and then tried to sleep. The girl I shared a room with kept waking up and smoking or talking on the phone, it was terrible. I hardly slept. I was all ready to be disappointed in the morning. Then I found out that it was a local holiday so the museum I wanted to see the most would be closed. Fun. Still determined to get something out of this I made my way to Corpus Dominio Chiesa Della Santa Bacillica and the mummy of St ...
Bologna, Italy dresdenfaeJune 10, 2002

Back on the bus! This time to Italy!! We went to Pisa (and had pizza for lunch!) We saw the tower, of course, and the church.
