... area and already there we were impressed by the look of it. We were biking there for hours and sometimes we were in places, where in a circle of 10-15 kilometers there were no houses, non paved roads, no cars, probably no humans except for us. Of course there were wood paths as the one we were on, but still. And of course you can be in areas like that in the hills or mountains, but this is lowlands forest.

Dobry wieczór!

The bison of Białowieża
... covering gives the place a stark sort of beauty and the winter woodpeckers provide a noisy accompaniment. Please Send Food Parcels
We drove lots. We had lunch in Marijampole, Lithuania. We drove more, on into Poland and south. We finally found a motel in an obscure town after hours and hours of driving. It was OK, fairly cheap, but the rooms were stuffy, the kids were tired and I was grumpy after a night with no sleep and a day of endless driving. Oh, and it's raining. We had two weeks of perfect weather in the Baltics, and the minute we get back into Poland, there's a thunderstorm. What's that all about then?
