Off To the South of Italy!

Ahhh.....the south of Itally....speedo's, fast cars and lovely women! And then I woke up.....it was time to head to the train station to pick up our rental car for the drive to south of Italy and the Amalfi Coast.

If there is one thing that I really like to do, it is to drive in foreign countries. I enjoy the challenge of navigating through a picturesque countryside or finding my way through a foreign city maze. For me, there is a real sense of accomplishment attached to ...

... 16-inch pan. Methodically I began trying to make the best with what I had to work with. So strange cooking here, with all the sizes, measurements being in cm, m, and centigrade ... After struggling for an hour or so, I finally had what seemed like a half a pig ready to go in the oven. Whew. Marina and I then grabbed the trolley, and went to town to get oranges and ice cream, returning to Milena in less than 1/2 hour. It was cocktail time, and Marina ...

... and one small grocery we went back to the boat. Just off the stern of Milena, friends of Jacques were offering us a cold cup if sangria. Wow, did that taste good, in this all too hot town, behind a huge break wall to the sea. Once on Milena, we all sat down, and shared a liter of cold water, before anyone could think of either preparing or eating lunch. Cold lunch meats, and a Greek-Italian green salad was perfect, as we washed it down with a very mild white ...

... on to Milena with any part of my body. I will tell you what, my fingers and toes were very grateful for this temporary rest. By 7:30a.m, I was up and dressed sub-consciencely waving good bye to the isle of Stromboli, thinking we must have past it. But no... this semi-dormant, always with orange-glowing top, (for over 10 years now, according to Jacques) was blowing puffs of white smoke to us, as if waving good-bye, as we silently ...

... finding that as we head further south people do not speak much English. The owner was very nice and gave all of us a large dinner plate. Don't know if I will be able to carry home. Experienced difficulty getting through to our destination as the road had been closed due to landslides. Finally worked our way back to the major road and arrived about 7 pm. Wonderful seaside/fishing village. The weather much better today so did a bit of exploring around the town and surrounding areas on ...
