... These trains run between St Moritz and the Italian town of Tirano where I stayed on last years winter trip.

Onwards and upwards to the summit of the pass. The summit of Bernina is at 2330m above sea level and is in my opinion one of the best view points in the whole of the Alps. As per usual I parked my bike up on the rock and took several photos of it with the mountains as backdrop.

From here its a grand hi speed road down the pass with magical twists ...

      Thursday 28 August

Moved on this morning, up the Pitztal valley, just south
of Imst. Went up to the Pitztal glacier, taking the Glacier Express(tunnel
train) followed Tyrol’s highest cable car to the restaurant at 3,440m, near the
top of the Wildspitze (3,774m). Perfect weather for a day in the snow – blue
      skies and no wind.

Staying near Jerzens tonight. Had a great evening meal at
      the campsite restaurant ...

... moment I had an inkling of what it might be like to work for the Yukon Geological Survey - maybe I missed my true calling in life? Anyway we had a great time, and finished up the day with a great Wienerschnitzel meal at a local restaurant. Tonight we have to pack up for our train trip to Venice tomorrow. We're sorry to be leaving this area. There is so much great hiking here - maybe we'll be back some ...
