Guess what? The toilet blocked again so we had to go thru the plunger rigmarole for a second time. The lady at the front desk kept the same face (I asked her if she ever went home as she seemed to be the only person there). None of us were sorry to be leaving. At breakfast there was one friendly, amusing guy and we chatted about the food on offer …
You know that you are traveling with your 85 year old mother when she brings out all her stuff in plastic bags and on hangars! Also when she brings out her cooler and traveling food "just in case we get hungry so we don't have to eat out all the time". We loaded up the xterra and off we started. I had chosen the scenic route for the GPS and it did …
This is a fantastic drive. And if you get the chance do it.
... tomorrow's sightseeing. People are super friendly and helpful here.
Since we're camped on a golf course, Ronnie gets the bug and as it's now late afternoon and not crowded, Holly accompanies. We walk the course (hilly but spectacular views!). Cool to see our tent near the 14th hole.
Back to camp for a wonderful mac & cheese dinner followed by a fire with toasted marshmallows. Great day.

Historical Traveler Reviews Twin Dolphin Inn Morro Bay
Poor travel with expdia and twin doulpin..
I got the reservation through expedia.
Room rate is the same as ocean view in the hotel's web site. But the room I have is not the ocean view. It is ths street side. Hotel manager told me that ocean view room could not get from expedia even though I paid same rate.
I complained to expedia about this issue.
Expedia's customer support reply to me that room type is not gurantee from expedia. He or she think that it is only my fault not because of expedia.. How the expedia can gurantee the best and qualified service to the customer. poor..
Hotel room is new modeled but not enough space and coffee maker is not cleaned.
If someone want to go to hearst castle, please do not stay this hotel. you can find another hotel in the San Simeon or Cambria easily.
Last minute internet reservation
kind of a unique set-up with parking under the building and the office on the second floor. we were switched from a "king" room to "two queens" but the location on the back corner of the building proved to be quiet. the room was large and felt up-to-date. there was a "smell." not bad, but we both noticed it. the air conditioner was loud and blew right across the head of both beds. nice walk-in shower.
A very pleasant stay
I also find myself wondering if some of these reviewers stayed at the same hotel. Perhaps then, it has been drastically remodeled since. During a weeklong trip to CA this was one of the nicest hotels we stayed in for the modest price. Everything including the carpeting appeared brand new; the bathroom was spotless, the front desk staff pleasant and responsive. The continental breakfast was adequate but not fancy. The room was quiet and there were no smells whatsoever. My only complaint would be the hard pillows (very cheap foam blocks.) The ocean is just steps away and the village is pleasant with nice shops and restaurants just a stroll away. We'd stay here again without any hesitation.
My husband and I went to Morro Bay for an overnight getaway and chose the Twin Dolphin Inn. We found the front desk personnel to be very friendly and the room clean, with 2 queen beds and a view of Morro Rock. The continental breakfast was adequate, with bagels, cereal, fruit, coffee and juice, etc. The hotel is situated within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants in town, as well as the aquarium, which we ventured into to see the very boisterous seals - so talented and amusing. I would definitely recommend the Twin Dolphin Inn for its price, location and service.
Twin our new fav
I love it here! We started staying here about 2 years ago--my husband and I. The price for an ocean view, king, fridge, iron and board and blowdryer--is soooooo reasonable. The decor is new and nice. Walking distance to all Morro. I would highly recommend it. We have stayed there at least 4 times and consistently good!
We stayed one night over spring break 2004, and had reserved two "view" rooms. The lobby is dark and smoke-filled, and the carpets filthy. The manager complained bitterly that arriving at 9 p.m. (which we'd pre-arranged) was too late, and an imposition. He informed us that the amenity, the hot tub (a tiny one) is only open from 4pm until 9pm, which for a cold, foggy area would have been nice to be able to use.
After reading the reviews below I am not even sure that these people stayed at the hotel. We had a totally different experience at the hotel. We found it to be a charming hotel with a great location and wonderful staff.Bottom line, if you want a very nice, affordable hotel with a terrific location and great people, ignore the inaccurate reviews below and stay at this hotel
Smelly room, concrete bed, no service
The first thing we noticed as we entered the motel was the smell.
Something like carpet adhesive and I don't know what else. After we got to our room we noticed that there was no refrig or microwave as their website had said was in EVERY room. The shower was grungy, but the beds were the coup de grace. Like sleeping on a bunch of rocks!
The location of the motel is good. It has a nice view from some rooms.
It just needs some elbow grease to clean it up, get rid of the bad smells, and new beds. You might want to wash the windows once in awhile as well.
Oh yeah, quit advertising that ALL the rooms have certain amenities, they don't! Also, don't argue with the customers.
I smiled after reading the review of July 2003 from someone who was at Twin Dolphins. My husband and I must have encountered the same rude desk clerk!! While the hotel has been remodeled and looks fine, the attitude of the employees, or some of them, makes the remodeling job almost inconsequential. When we checked in, we were met by this sloppy female desk clerk who wouldn't smile if her life depended on it. First thing she said to us was "No Pets - No Children". I reminded her that she had said that on the telephone when I called previously to confirm the registration (I was trying to make light of it all) - but she isn't smart enough to catch on. When I asked her the location of the room, she barked "it is a standard room" (which wasn't' what I was asking her). I asked her about the bathroom and she said, all bathrooms have stall showers - again, no smiles - what a drip!! Anyway, the room was fine - but the next morning, I viewed what they called a cont.
Room with a view
average, clean room with good view, pricey but competitive for area, pm staff overly friendly- should save some of it for the am staff (sharp but not rude)
