The road swooped up and down until we got to Campo, when we turned north. It gradually got narrower until we entered the Congosto de Ventamillo - a gorge!
These narrow twisty roads would be a lot less scary (for me, not Rob) if the Spanish drivers kept to their side of the road and didn't treat them as a challenge and a race track!
... lack of places to stop. In France there are Aires every 20 miles or so. We were nearly at Pamplona before we found somewhere to have lunch - luckily a scenic place with a view down over a plain.
We didn't like the look of Pamplona at all, a very large city.
We then took the A21 towards Jaca, another really scenic road ...
Friday 6th June
We left a very warm Boltana and drove over more mountain passes to reach Torla and the Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perido. We headed straight to the huge car park at Praciera, half way along the Ordesa valley to starta walk up the valley to its head and the Cola de Caballo.
After the 28th June, the road to the car park will close for a couple of months and the only access will be by shuttle bus in an effort to keep ...
Tuesday 3rd June
We drove to Boltana today. We stopped for shopping and a coffee in Vielha on one of the main link routes across the Pyrenees from France to Spain. We watched HGV's thunder past us.
The road to Boltana took us along some very scenic roads, across mountain passes and through deep gorges. The road through the gorge was narrow with lots of twists and turns. Interesting in its own right but even more interesting ...
... the type of person that does not go slow on the slopes to stay safe, but rather one that is always trying new things and ALWAYS is the sorest one the next day. And that could not be more from the truth...when I woke up Monday morning I could barely get out of bed. All the pain and a dislocated arm or pulled muscle was all worth the trip. However, more than ANY body part I would say my checks and abs hurt the most from all the laughing. An amazing weekend trip!
