Up bright and early again today - there was me thinking I would get a lie in on this holiday - maybe tomorrow. Got to the airport about 03:20 local time. Not a lot to do there, just waiting for the desk to open to check in and really get going. Flight took off in darkness, and nothing overly exciting going on. A few noisy yanks behind me on the plane, but even they were bearable I suppose ;-) Then sun started to come up as we were flying along and I looked out the window - faintly up ahead I ...
Cuzco, Peru gordymNow that I have finally met up with my group, we all were on a walking tour of the ruins round Cuzco today. Absolutely amazing! So much to take in, but for those of you that are interested, I´ve taken a load of pictures, so I can bore you with them when I get back. Our duffle bags for the Inca Trail arrived today. We´re only allowed to take so much with us, but had no problems fitting all I needed into the bag they gave us. Tonite is my last night in a comfy bed for the next 3 nights. Sleepin...
Cuzco, Peru gordymBack in Cusco again today. Nice rest day before I set oiff again. Went out for dinner with the others from the trail last night - originally to an Irish Bar! Today has been chilling and getting laundry sorted before we move on from here to Puno and Lake Titikaka. Legs not as sore as I thought they would be, but suppose it could be the day after the day after when they get worse. Tomorrow will be all day in a bus heading to Puno, apparentrly with a couple of stops along the way at various plac...

Cuzco, Peru avi_einat... I am looking forward to leaving Cusco because I hate being a tourist.

Also in the pics you will see Ivan from Argentina, who is riding back from Alaska with his bike and his new puppy, Wari!! Salina and Wari became good friends and we hope to meet up with them further down the road. Ivan is a very cool dude, too.
Cusco, Peru courtrand... reverse engine thrusters! Deplaning was down a roll-up stair case just like the President! Made me feel very important. I even waved to everyone! Peggy didn't understand, but that's nothing new!
Our greeter, Miguel, met us with our driver, Ivan, outside and hurried us to our hotel to unload and get ready for our afternoon tour. On the way, he told us some of the things we would be doing today and that we would meet our guide for the week, Erika Palomino at the hotel ...

Cusco, Peru mmenard... and falling behind, and this was only my second multiday trek I’d ever done. The only thing going through my mind was, I don’t want to be the slowest or hold the group up.

I needn’t have worried because we made camp each night before sun down.

Turns out the Chachapoyas Trek was way more intense; mainly because The Incas, they have the good road building techniques. Cusco, Peru adamfriend1... my room at the inn was cheaper and I had my own bed (2 beds actually) and a shower all to myself.

Later that day I met up with Brenda, Marcel, Cris and Daniela at the suburb of San Blas for one last Salkantay reunion before we went our own merry ways. We were just outside the Muse cafe and watched the sun go down behind Plaza San Blas before going inside. We then went off to bar KmO for another evening of great music from Feather's band ...
