... a banya (ok, relatable) and ends up accidentally catching a flight to St Petersburg and falls in love with the girl who owns the flat of the same address, which he breaks into thinking it's his (the joke being that Soviet architecture wasn't very imaginative so the same flats, with the same locks in the same streets were built in every city). I would come to agree with this more and more later on with every new city along the railway, that did begin to run into one another.

Vladimir to Gorki, that's how this city was called until 1990. Today's name is much harder to spell as you can see on the map.

... except for the nice cafe downstairs. Upstairs the hostel was clean and comfortable. The proprietor Anton was a cool guy with a sweet Russian mullet. He showed us around the place and we quickly settled in. The "unique" part of this hostel was the shower in the kitchen and single toilet. Soon I met the babushka that was apparently living there temporarily, she was crazy. She kept trying to speak to me in Russia, not quite understanding ...
