... was quite a trip through wide streets. With such big impressive buildings. The Hotel Metropole was also extremely grand with chandeliers everywhere ! Our room was grandly old fashioned. Yep, we have been gone for 7 weeks, or approx. 1/10th of the time we expect to be away.
We arrived in Nizhny yesterday, and it is HOT! Even I have resorted to a sunhat. We took the option of a cheap hostel near the railway station. The rooms are tiny, but we didn't have to carry our bags far. Yesterday afternoon we walked as far as the bridge across the River Oka, which then merges into the even larger River Volga. ...
