... the interesting parts and the stories. So it was nice to go there but not mind blowing. I think we're all a little jaded from the barrage of cultural sights we've experienced in the last week or so. Probably the best thing was hearing from Lena about day to day life on Crete. How married couples are given houses by their parents, what age they marry, pregnancy out of wedlock is a precious baby and many Cretian brides walk down the aisle in their white dress ...
Fourth of July In Crete with no fire works :( Today we drove from Chania to Heraklion to our new hotel. The drive took two hour through some beautiful country side that reminded us of California, but without all of the people. For that I need the post office, and for that I need to be on Naxos on Friday (July 3). The only ferry to Naxos from Heraklion arrives at ...
... in central Heraklion - Had Greek salad, tatziki, mixed chicken plate for two, and there was enough food brought out for at least four people. The staff then brought us melons and some rake - which was strong enough to grow hairs on your chest. Very much enjoyed that eating experience.
Day two on Crete saw us driving towards the Palace of Knossos, for a wee bit of ancient history. Such a large site to explore. All quite low key - there are ...
