What Happened in Spain Part II

... and colors inside!
The owner, who was a tall American woman with long red hair who wore a long gauzy skirt and most definitely went bra-less, explained the rules to all of us. The kitchen was communal, as in all things in the fridge that were not labeled were up for grabs, and breakfast was coffee, tea, and oatmel. In Cadiz, the plumbing is horrible so you can't, ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT, flush anything down the toilets. I don't think any of us ...

Day with the Host Family

... and Cameron Diaz in it. I hope they get a part! Lunch was interesting and kind of like eating in a Chinese restaurant as the plates just kept coming! After lunch we said goodbye to the sons and continued walking and finally ended up back at the ship but not before taking a rest in the Plaza DE Espana across from the ship. When we were there the park cat ladies came by and fed the wild cats who were pretty friendly. Great ending to a very nice day!

Sherry Tasting and the Andalusian Horses

... of the sweetest sherry called "Nectar" for 8 Euro. I really didn’t like their regular sherry though. They were pretty cool though. When celebrities or royalty come visit, they have them sign a barrel of Tio Pepe instead of signing a guestbook! And they have a family of mice that are sherry connoisseurs. One of the distillery ...

Dancing horses

We got up really early (for us vacationers). It was about 8:15am. We decided we would drive 2 hours to a city called Jerez de la Frontera to see the famous dancing horses of Jerez. The tour guide said it was worth the drive... We arrived to another city. Not as big as Seville, but a city nonetheless. Shae was super excited to see the dancing horses. The show started at noon and lasted 1.5 hours. Shae lasted about 20 minutes - which was pretty good for her ...

Adios Espana

We are leaving for Morocco in a couple hours!! I had an amazing time in Spain. The first day we enjoyed the sights of Cadiz and then spent a lot of time at the beach! That night we saw a great concert with flamenco dancers. The next morning we woke up early to catch a bus to Seville. The architecture was incredible. We saw the Cathedral, Torre de Oro, bullfighting ring, and ...

The Cadiz carnaval

... streets at night. There might have been several million of the carnaval people in Cadiz that night, I think.

By the way, the most original and interesting costumes were of Lego; there were also a few people dressed up as Mario, the pope or Heineken bottles, but my personal best was a guy dressed up as Facebook. He was unbeatable.

Our train was scheduled for the evening, when it was already dark, and when the festival was actually about to begin. I ...

and we're off!

We pulled out of the Nassau harbor about 2 hours ago, and we're on the sea for the next 8 days!! On our way to Spain.... I started taking motion sickness meds, and am feeling just fine right now (though we're rolling around a bit). We took on 739 students today, and there's a noticeable difference in the energy of the ship. 70% are female students, most of them from California schools, though the school with the most student numbers here is University of Colorado (I have only 1 ...

Solo uno mes mas!

... we had some delicious green soup and a rosca. Yesterday, classes were early again, but we got out of POE early, which was nice because it was a gorgeous day. We went out for ice cream after a delicious lunch of enslada and sopa. Then Holly and I did some more shopping, there were these little white fuzz balls flying around in the sky, some sort of pollen that has been driving my allergies back to loco. The ...

From the Almost unspoiled to the Tourist Traps...

... an entire hostel could bond over! There were some Americans there, who were apparently planning to go join a protest today. What George Bush had done this time, that they were going to protest against I never discovered. I did manage to confuse them all, when I declined their offer to join them. Apparently everybody at the big breakfast table had, because of my accent, assumed that I was from California. I ...
