More bus travel

An early 0615 start and another french breakfast. No more croissants!!! Stopped for lunch at a medieval town called Carassone. It had a wall right round it, complete with little spaces for bow and arrow snipers. Had a lunch of crepes - beautiful. Different to Aussie crepes. And just arrived in spain. Such an interesting looking country. Little soccer fields dotted everywhere between spanish (believe it or not) looking houses. Weather dramatically warmer. Going to a buffet spanish dinner and f...

Barcelona

I love Barcelona!! It´s so sunny and warm and buzzy and friendly! There´s street musicans everywhere. Last night´s dinner and Flamanco dance was pretty fantastic. So much passion and emotion. Now that´s what I call a show! Found out Ray, the 80 year old is a Salvationist from Melbourne. This morning, we went out for a tour of the city. saw the port, the olympic site, cathedrals etc. Saw some Gaudi buildings which were really creative and interesting. Gaudi paid extra attention to the tops of ...

Porto to Barcelona

Every so often in a long trip you're bound to have someone get sick, especially when you are travelling with children. For us, it came today. Maggie came down with some sort of stomach bug and was up all night losing fluid at both ends, poor thing. Of course, such events are sure to happen at the worst possible time - Murphy's Law. Today we start a complicated return to our own part of the world, with a flight from Porto to Barcelona, then connecting tomorrow with a flight to Singapore which ...

Barcelona - Day 1

... for the tourist bus. Conrad asked the ticket lady where he could find them. I waited for him in the park, while he wandered around to find a hotel where he could buy this package. I think it was worth it. The package only cost 4 euros and it saved us 6 euros on the tour. Plus, it had a great map in it and coupons for other stuff.
We hopped on the bus, which is double decker, with the top deck being open aired. It was quite ...

CitiBank, sleeping on the bus and other fun tales

... in 4 business days.

Great.

I hung up on the guy after nearly losing it with him (I know I know it's not his fault, but seriously, Citibank let me move most of my money into the account and then blocked it after making sure it was hanging out in savings). Next, I called the guy who helped me open the account. He was almost as frustrated as I was and he informed me that he would be helping me out by taking over my account and removing the block ...

My favorite city

... runs down to the Placa Catalunya and then to La Rambla. We walked all the way down to the harbor and out onto the boardwalk. Then we walked all the way back up, doing some shopping on the way, and found a nice restaurant to have lunch. We decided to sit outside and enjoy watching the Saturday shoppers. A bit cold but worth it. We had a nice bottle of wine and some tapas. Jamon, fresh anchovies, cheese, bread and a warm plate of patatas bravas. Yum. Back to the hotel ...

Barcelona, the beach and beyond

... goodness.. it was getting touch and go!) After a lazy lunch and a bottle of wine later we were transformed into a pair of giggling teenagers. So off we giggled to check out one of Barcelona's beaches, Platja Bogatell. What a wicked place, full of beautiful people chilling out listening to the funky sounds coming from a cool cafe/bar on the beach.. 'welcome home Dani and Jon' it cried! So we leave as the sun sets and make our way for champagne and oysters ...

Barcelona Day 3?

... HOW????????? Curious about the contents? Oh, nothing TOO important: just my credit cards, cash (only about 12 Euros, no worries), student ID, Drexel ID, Hard Rock Café Card, and Medical Insurance Card. Did I forget to mention my PASSPORT? Lol. This presented a serious problem. I don't know how it happened, but it did, and there is nothing I was really going to be able to do about getting my stuff back-have you ever heard of a pickpocket returning your wallet because you ...
