... is a beautiful drive though weaving between mountains across ravines 100's of metres high and views out to sea beyond. We arrived in Almerimar around 3 in the afternoon. The whole town is built from scratch starting about 40 years ago. There was nothing there so a man founded a new town, harbour and marina.It is really too modern for my taste but a harbour parking spot is always my No. 1 aim. One must pay for harbour parking but office was on siesta until ...

... in the UK , had been touring Europe in his twenties, with a mate and they had ended up in Majorca. He had got as far as Pollenca, met a girl, decided that this was where he wanted to be, married her and fifty years later was retired with a family, a business and a yacht in the marina that he was off to with his family that afternoon.

Another character in the group was originally from Los Angeles, had been a 'plane driver', as he put it and had sailed all over the world ...

Notre escale d'une nuit s'est transformée en semaines, nous sommes toujours à Almerimar. Nous avons dû revenir en France et maintenant nous attendons que le vent soit dans la bonne direction pour remonter la côte Est de l'Espagne et pour rejoindre les Baléares.
