Day 20: Almeria Province

... on pedestals in the front yard… On into the evening, I continue wandering through the empty streets of the town. There’s a big football game going and, unlike in Morocco where all the men would be out crammed into smoky cafes, here everyone watches at home… you can barely share in the excitement from the occasional shouts echoing from all over town. All around town I find parks, plazas, spacious boulevards—clearly this town has been designed to be a pleasant livable ...

You see, we were parked on top of a cliff, and as the wind got stronger and stronger I was convinced that I was going to blow off the top of the cliff. That's not even an exaggeration! This was clearly unsuitable, but the nearest marina was 26 miles away and we'd struggle to get there before dark. Still, we ...

We did our own walking tour today in Almeria, Spain which consisted of touring the Alcazaba fortress which is one of the biggest fortresses ever built by the Arabs in Spain. We walked the downtown and harbour areas returning to the ship for sail-away at 4:00 pm. +30 again today so tried to soak it all up!
