... Team Maui (Kevin and Laura)! We all took the short ferry ride together but we stopped for ice cream. The rest of the "teams" continued on or perhaps stayed in the town to eat a bit down the way.

Once we got to Vlissingen, it was very difficult to find the hotel. Once we got to the train station, we thought it was a short ride over but we quickly realized that we had to cross over another canal with locks (which were opening and we had to wait for) ...

But very busy - the road not being clearly marked out, so walking along you have to contend with bikes, motorbikes, normal buses, tour buses, horse carts and people on segways. Another Belgian specialty - a friterie. In one of these 'restaurants' they sell a whole raft of different food items - all in a fried form! Chips, nuggets, burgers, sausages, spring rolls... ... is cheaper that water ... Which is great if one is not sick. Plus Sudafed is drying me out - I need water !! One sprite, one coke light & a liter of water for less than 3 € ... Now that's what I'm talking about. Street after street is old buildings, great architecture and cobblestone streets. It is easy to see why Brugge is one of the most beautiful cities on Europe. As I enter the church ... I walk into a construction site. They are doing major ...

      A day at the beach

... seconds after falling asleep, Saskia woke us up with fresh brewed coffee and breakfast. Shortly after we were on the road to the beach. (It still kills me how easy it is to spend the weekend in a different country!) It was the perfect Sunday; sun, sand, ocean, and friends. Us Kansans thought the water was a bit too brisk to really swim in, but Saskia didn't waste any time before diving right in. We were happy enough to read and nap on the beach :) We ...
