And last, but not least, the point of our commitment is to fully respect the environment, nature and the culture. We want you to learn how life is here and why we love it.

Tropical Adventures is ...

Week 2-Day 2

... It has rained since this afternoon so we have stayed in the home base. It is during down time like this that I feel homesick. The other volunteers usually experience it at this time, too. We give one another pep talks.
Tomorrow is Wednesday already. The week is going by fast. Tomorrow, we are going on a field trip to the Orosi Valley. I am sure I will have a lot of pictures to post tomorrow night.
Hasta luego!
... equator there is no real value as almost all of their days are 12 hours long. They had just started boarding as we got to the gate, so it was not a big deal, but we cut it much closer than either of us would have liked. We are both ready to pack it in for the night, but at least I have discovered there is free Wifi in the hotel room so we can keep blogging!

Corinna meinte: "Travel smart and nothing will happen".

... switched to that wonderfully catchy Latin beat. (as if to tell the assemblage - "We fooled you - this really is fun!") We don't remember the second group, except that after the twelfth, repetitive verse, of something we decided to find some ice cream. (Indoors and seated, we wouldn't have dared). The third group - of university students - sang and danced with high energy, again beginning slowly with traditional Advent music and ending with hip shaking ...

... six billion people is already too many; some estimates put the maximum infinitely sustainable human population as low as one million, and to maintain our current (American) lifestyle, that may not be too far off the mark. I wonder if we can rein ourselves in, stop multiplying fruitfully like it's God's will, stop draining irreplaceable energy reserves to make ourselves more comfortable, stop denying the imminent crisis, before it's too late. I'm not terribly optimistic.

He got back onto the bus and as we drove away he tooted the horn with three short blasts. I swear I think he was telling her he loved her. Did I imagine this happening? I dont think so. Because I saw him catch my eye in the mirror and smile at me and I smiled back. I spent the next hour or so making up stories about their lived untl I ...

Leaving Pura Vida

... When I arrived I found out the flight was going to depart a half hour late. I let out a huge sigh then had to figure out how to get in touch with Craig to let him know my flight would be late. I bought a phone card with tropical fish on it, called Craig and let him know the status then walked onto the plane. I was very happy to get to my seat with my backpack to head home. I arrived back home happy to see Craig at the airport!

Diego taught us some Costa Rican drinking songs (all CR songs seem to be about tragic love, or drinking, or the latter as a coping device for the former).
