... through the last couple of flights, I have been praying much less for my bag and much more for Mr. Meeker and me. The value of the bag and all its contents is of no real use if we come down with sickness or injury. I am glad that God has allowed me to go through this experience and learn lessons like that one. I also prayed for my wife and daughters who I was not able to contact last night. I prayed that their road trip went well and that they arrived safely at ...

... and driver, Simon, meet us at 8 am for an abbreviated tour of Soweto (south west of town). It is run and gun tourism and turns out to be a three and one half hour dialogue in a nice van where we just look and talk. No museums. No great monuments. They are articulate and thoughtful. They are passionate about their respective soccer teams (the Orlando Pirates and the Kaiser Chiefs) and wish that the goodwill described in the movie Invictus was more than a ...

Twenty eight hours ago I landed in Libreville, Gabon. In three and one half hours I hope to fly overnight to Johannesburg and on to Polokwane - a day late. I have missed a day of vacation in Polokwane and a chance to decompress after travel and probably a chance to see Stanford Lake College with my son. A mechanical problem on the inbound aircraft created havoc. SAA ground staff seemed surprised by the presence ...
